“Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth, I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his Lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain that whatsoever ye shall ask of the father in my name he may give it you.” (John 15:14-16)

Here I am, Lord, on a journey that leads me beyond what I can see.

I’m the one who has a plan that is safe and secure, but not your will.

You lead me away from myself to a place in you where all I can do is trust. There is no logic in this path I take; by man’s standards it’s destined to fail, but you have a plan that is greater than I, although I don’t fully understand. Why would you, God, the Almighty, take away all of the treasures that I dearly hold on to, and require that I be willing to lose them? It doesn’t make sense, while the darkness enshrouds me, and the storm is raging all around me; I will trust you, God, because you promised that if I’d seek your face early, I’d find you.

I feel so lost on this journey I must take. There’s no one who can save me, but you. I try to remember to wait on you, Lord, because every time I have needed you before, you came; yet, once again, I find myself asking, “Where are you, God?” I desperately search, not knowing if the next step will cast me away into utter despair, but I keep walking deeper into the darkness, believing that you are leading me through. I can’t lose hope, so I will keep on trusting in you and have faith that you will bring the victory as a result of my obedience. I know that you have never left me, Lord, but I sometimes feel alone…. (This was written during a dark time in my life; yet, God saw me through it.)

How often have you felt lost?  It seems that just when we are ready to give up completely, God steps in to rescue us. When we feel the warmth of his presence, we can rest assured that he hasn’t abandoned us, but he is moving heaven and earth to lead us through to victory. Not all of the roadblocks that we are facing are to prevent us from having good things, in life. Those obstacles are there to channel us to the destination that the Lord desires for us. When we don’t understand, remember that God has everything under control. He is working all things for our good.

Have faith in God. Let God lead you into all truth and just allow yourself to trust him. The Lord is everything that you need.
