Is Seeking the Will of God Our Last Resort, or Our First Option?

We have been told since the beginning of our lives that we must put God first in all things. It’s like the more we hear it, the more we brush it aside as one of those wise sayings that was never meant to be taken literally. After all, we have certainly changed from the time this was written, so it may not even apply to us, today. If we have that kind of thinking, then we would be terribly wrong.

Seeking God is an action and we should not sit around in a haphazard way to seek God. I promise that if life gets real enough, we will not have any trouble seeking God. Why is it that when trouble comes our way, we are quick to beg God for help, but when things are going well, we neglect to give God the time of day? Instead of building a relationship that is based on communication, and reverence, we slide into our prayer closet and offer up our wish whining to God the Almighty. I’ll take a side order of answered prayers with that order, please.

We have all been guilty of not giving enough time to prayer, even when we know that prayer is the key to unlocking the doors of our praise and answered prayers. If we want to see mountains in our lives moved, we must pray until the walls begin to crumble.

On the other hand, if we spend our time hoping and wishing for something to happen, instead of taking a step of faith and doing what we can do, nothing will ever happen.

I am grateful that I have an opportunity to seek the Lord. Not everyone in the world has that freedom to choose. Nothing else matters if we don’t get our lives in perspective. The Lord is coming soon. Instead of seeing how close you can live to the world and still be saved, why not seek the Lord first and all these things will be added to you. It’s my desire to do his will. Let’s be able to say with confidence that, “It is Well with my Soul,” as the song goes.

When peace like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say
It is well, it is well, with my soul
It is well
With my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul
It is well (it is well)
With my soul (with my soul)
It is well, it is well with my soul
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, o my soul
It is well (it is well)
With my soul (with my soul)
It is well, it is well with my soul
It is well (it is well)
With my soul (with my soul)
It is well, it is well with my soul

About gracemorganwriter

What is a writer? Someone who writes. For me, writing means to observe the world in a fresh way; it gives us encouragement when we are struggling to follow the path, and hope that we can keep pressing towards the mark. Writing gives us grace for the journey, and shines light into the darkened places of our soul.
