“He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust:
his truth shall be thy shield and buckler”(Psalm 91:4).
Under His Wings
Being independent has its place in our lives, but sometimes the Lord invites us to come into his arms and under his wings for protection. Too often we put up a brave front and fight a spiritual battle alone. It seems, that when we are the most vulnerable in our spiritual walk, the devil taunts us when we cry late at night, and tells us that no one sees our anguish, or even cares about our sorrow.
“Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee; yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast” (Psalm 57:1).
“I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.” Psalm 61:4).
We Cry
We cry when we can’t put into words the grief of loneliness.
We mourn for the child we may never have, the spouse long departed,
the ambition halted by circumstances beyond our control;
the lost opportunities in our life;
the paralyzing fear of failure that keeps us bound; and unable to do anything for God.
We cry when all is going well for others; then feel guilty that we want them to fail—
The ones who don’t know Him; and
What about the tears that we didn’t shed?
What about the prayers we should have prayed, but delayed;
The invitations we should have mailed, but didn’t;
the apathy and rejection that we plunged into?
We wonder how the Devil slipped into our thoughts.
We cry while all the time the Lord is waiting for us to reach for him,
and allow him to nurture us just because we don’t understand, why.
He wants us to allow Him to wash away the past regrets; wipe away our tears.
Are you waiting for God to do something in your life?
You can reach Him, today.
He desires to gather you under his wings into a place of safety and warmth.
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!” Luke 13:34
